Okay. So, this is a late post. I wasn't sure if I wanted to post this (I didn’t think we ordered enough to make a proper review), so it sat in my drafts folder for months since last year; that was until now.

Café Kitsuné at The Podium

Café Kitsuné is a contemporary café that offers coffee, sandwiches, and pastries. It's a global brand with branches in France, Japan, South Korea, New York, China, Thailand, Manila, and more. I’m not sure where exactly it originated from, but they have a Paris-meets-Tokyo concept.

Cafe Kitsune at The Podium

I always notice this coffee shop whenever I go to the mall, but I had never thought of trying their coffee until I met with a friend. We had heard about the previous hype, so we decided to see for ourselves since we were also looking for a new place to chat.

What we Ordered

We both ordered Spanish Latte (hot and iced), and our drinks were delicious. It would have been better, though, if my drink was hotter. As for the food, we didn’t try anything. But if you are planning to go here and eat as well, you'll need at least ₱500 for a beverage and a sandwich (or a pastry), depending on what you get.

Eloise at the counter

I do not have menu photos, but the food and drink items are in the ₱200-800 peso range. So, if you are planning to go here and eat as well, you'll need at least ₱500 for a beverage and a sandwich (or a pastry). The coffee was okay; not what I expected, but it was nice. Or maybe I’ll try a different drink next time.

Coffee and pastries at Cafe Kitsune

We didn't get any food, so I cannot share anything about its taste and quality. But by the looks of it (and based on other reviews), you're better off going to a restaurant for a proper meal you can get for the same price.

Spanish Latte (Iced and Hot)

The Spot

The place has a relaxed vibe and seems ideal for those who like a quiet setup. It looks classy, and there are also a few sockets that you can use for your devices.

The only issue was the stability of the tables (and the place is a bit cramped). We have moved spots three times, but the last table was still shaky- we just settled. I hope they add some non-slip stabilizers to avoid drink spillage.

Afternoon date with my college friend

The Service

I have read about others’ negative experiences with their staff, but fortunately, we were assisted by a helpful waiter who was attentive to our requests. Infused house water is available.

The Verdict

Based on our experience, I'd give Café Kitsuné an 7/10. It reminds me of Butlers Chocolate Cafè in Lahore (Pakistan), except the latter is more spacious.

Merchandise (I found these to be overpriced for its quality)

Other cafes inside The Podium that I recommend are Caerus, Angkan, Daiesumi, and Craft.

<![CDATA[A Taste of Bacha Coffee | Seville Orange Drip Coffee]]>https://www.andltorre.com/single-post/a-taste-of-bacha-coffee-seville-orange-drip-coffee-bags6600ebcf58e7e63fcda7bba5Wed, 27 Mar 2024 09:55:07 GMTAndi Dela Torre GriffithsThis month, my sister went to Singapore for Taylor Swift’s concert, so I requested her to get me a box of Bacha coffee while she was there. I checked online for options and went with the Seville Orange drip coffee variant. She ended up giving it to me as a gift (hehe, thank you, sister!)

Bacha actually has a proper cafe. My sister said the coffee they served was delicious. You might want to try it when you visit (I would love to when we visit next time).

The Brand | Getting to Know Bacha Coffee

So here it is; a box of 12 drip coffee bags (Arabica).

Bacha Fine Flavoured Coffee | Seville Orange Coffee Bags

According to their website, Bacha Coffee originated in Marrakech, Morocco, in the 1900s when they opened Dar El Bacha palace, where respected personalities gathered over Arabian coffee.

Some of their memorable guests included Charlie Chaplin, Josephine Baker, and Winston Churchill. This spot closed after the Second World War and was revived only in 2017- but it made a proper comeback. They did some serious restoration, painting, and decor work; the rest is history.

Bacha Drip Coffee & Packaging

Bacha Coffee has plenty to offer aside from its coffee bags. They also have coffee grounds, beans, gift sets, accessories, and even candies, all of which come in excellent packaging.

Bacha Fine Flavoured Coffee Box Seville Orange | V3 Gourmet

And speaking of the packaging, why don't we talk about it first? I think you'd agree it looks majestic. The paper bag, coffee box, and coffee packets are regal with all the fancy fonts and gold-foil prints. Even the ribbon, receipt holder, and instructional guide follow the theme. It's interesting. Opening the package is an experience in itself.

Bacha Coffee's signature Blue ribbon for the coffee boxes

I mean, look at that. The upper portion of the box looks like a mini ballroom hall when opened, lol. There's so much effort put into the details.

Bacha Coffee Moroccan Design Packaging

These are individually wrapped and are perfect to bring to the office or when you travel. They come in stylish packets, too. You are paying for the branding, hehe. TWG Tea and Bacha coffee fall under the same gourmet lifestyle company, V3 Gourmet, hence the same vibes. We have a TWG Tea Boutique here in Manila, but not Bacha.

Bacha Coffee from Singapore | From Marrakech, Morocco | Arabica

Want to try it? You can order them from Kopi Mania PH on this link

Taste & Aroma

Now, the real question is, is it good? The answer would depend on the flavor you pick and your preference. I can only speak about the flavors I tried- Happy Gianduja and Seville Orange. Happy Gianduja tasted good, like other Hazelnut coffees in the market.

How to use Bacha coffee bags

I liked the Orange one better. It's something different from my usual brew. It is light and flavorful, really zesty. In Bacha Coffee's scale, this falls under the mildest range.

Others

 • Each bag contains 12 grams of 100% Arabica coffee;

 • Recommended water for one serving is 180mL;

 • Seville Orange is very fragrant.

Left: Individual coffee sachet & receipt holder | Right: Coffee booklet with information about their flavors

Would I recommend it?

If you are curious to try their coffee or are simply a fan of exquisite design and packaging, yes. If you already happen to be in one of the countries where they have a shop, it doesn't hurt to try (if you have time and it's within the budget).

It is one of those places at the forefront of luxury and technological advancements.

Dubai Travel Guide | Travel Itinerary | Memento Vivere | A Lifestyle Blog by Andi

My husband and I are thankful to have been to Dubai twice; the first time was in 2022 (for a seven-day trip), and the second time was in 2023 (for 28 days, on a working vacation). With the help of my cousins and friends in Dubai, we were able to plan our activities better.

Today, I’ll share 12 spots you should check out while you’re there. These are places and activities we have seen and tried firsthand. But I will also include other attractions at the end of the post that you can include in your itinerary.

If you haven’t read the first part of this write-up, which is the essential guide (What You Need to Know Before You Go), you can check it on this link: Dubai Travel Guide Part 1.

12 Places to Visit and Things to do in DXB | Dubai Travel Guide

For more information about the places enumerated below, simply click the Yellow button under it. I've created detailed blog posts with practical information that can be helpful during your visit.

1 Museum of the Future

Going to the Museum of the Future may remind you of the movie Tomorrowland. While you don't get to ride in any strange, futuristic vehicles, they have a simulated spaceship ride, and enjoyable immersive experiences.

We had fun here. There are tour guides to explain the point of each exhibit, and everything was organized. Overall, it is an interactive, educational experience for kids and adults.

Museum of the Future in Dubai | Photo by Bakhrom | Dubai Travel Guide & Itinerary

It is certainly a must-include in your itinerary. The futuristic museum showcases Dubai’s plans and visions for the future, including projects they are already working on to make that happen.

2 Souk Madinat Jumeirah

Dubai is home to many Souks in different areas, including Souk Madinat Jumeirah, a marketplace right next to the emirate’s iconic hotel- Burj Al Arab.

Souk refers to Arab bazaars. It is the counterpart of Tiangges in the Philippines.

Aside from shopping and dining, you can enjoy the scenic views of Burj Khalifa and their well-maintained waterways, where you can go on dhow rides.

Note: If you want to maximize your visit at Souk Madinat, you can book tickets (online) for any show at the Theater of Digital Art (TODA). TODA is a digital art space that regularly holds art display shows, concerts, and even meditation sessions.

3 Dubai Frame

If you want to see Dubai from two perspectives, check out Dubai Frame. It’s an observation deck that lets you appreciate old and new Dubai from 150 meters above ground (via their high-speed, glass-paneled elevators).

Since it is inside Zabeel Park, you might as well go on a stroll there, take photos, and chill after your activity.

Dubai Frame in Dubai | Photo by Yuriy Seleznev

Tip: Wear flats. If you wear high and chunky shoes, the staff will kindly ask you to walk barefoot on the glass floor (this happened to me).

4 Dubai Dolphinarium

Are you traveling with kids? Do you love animals? If you answered yes to at least one of these questions, you should book tickets to Dubai Dolphinarium shortly.

Dubai Dolphinarium offers various shows perfect for the whole family. They have dolphin and seal shows, exotic bird shows, and dolphin encounter experiences. There are also a few games you could participate in.

Dubai Dolphinarium | Travel to Dubai, UAE Blog | Tickets and Timings

While you’re there, you can check out Children’s City (located within the same park where Dubai Dolphinarium is), where your kids can play while you relax and soak in the beautiful views of the park.

5 Desert Safari

A trip to Dubai isn’t complete without the desert safari experience. There are many tour operators and businesses that offer packages for this.

I can never forget when we went dune bashing, and our car stopped while we were in a slanted position. We all had to get out slowly and wait for our rescue vehicle. The pregnant lady next to me vomited on my lap, and I was so worried knowing she was pregnant. All of us in the car kind of panicked, thinking about the baby. Luckily, she was okay.

6 Sky Views Observatory

Another spot on the list is Sky Views Observatory, an attraction that offers stunning city views and exciting experiences. You can go on the slide from the 53rd to the 52nd floor, then walk on the 46-meter glass floor. I highly recommend this activity. It is ideal for those who want to conquer their fear of heights.

You can also try the Sky Edge Walk if you want to take your experience to the next level.

Most promos already come with a drink from their restaurant (you can choose from water, coffee, slushie, or soda).

7 Dubai Fountain (at the Dubai Mall)

Within walking distance from Sky Views Observatory is the massive Dubai Mall. If you plan to visit both places in a day, there is no need to get a ride as you can easily pass through the air-conditioned walkway.

The tallest dancing water fountain in the world is in Dubai, and it's on the artificial lake inside Dubai Mall. You can watch the spectacle from the promenade, one of the restaurants facing the fountain, or the floating platform. There are tickets if you want to be in the floating area, where you will be right in front of the action (note that if you get too close, your clothes can get wet from the big splashes).

Dubai Mall | Dubai Travel Guide & Itinerary Ideas | Photo by Elnur

There is also the option to take the Burj Lake ride, in which you go around the fountain area on a boat.

8 Burj Khalifa “At the Top” Experience

Burj Khalifa “At the Top” is an experience that takes you to the top levels of the world's tallest building to see Dubai from a higher ground. Regular passes include access to Levels 124 and 125 via their high-speed elevators.

There is no glass floor you can walk on (like the ones in Dubai Frame and Sky Views), but they have a simulated one where you can visualize how it feels to walk from that height, with sound effects.

To claim your passes, head to the ticketing station (inside Dubai Mall, in front of Al Jaber Gallery) and present your QR code.

9 The Green Planet

One of my favorite attractions in Dubai is The Green Planet. It's a beautiful biodome home to 3,000 plant and animal species. This indoor rainforest is perfect for those who love nature and animals.

The Green Planet in Dubai | Travel Asia | Memento Vivere Blog

Even when some parts were under construction, we had so much fun. I love how the animals were free to roam around and interact with guests (with the zookeepers' supervision).

Aside from the standard day admissions, they also offer other exclusive packages where you can camp or be the zookeeper for the day.

10 IMG Worlds of Adventure

Do you want an adrenaline rush? IMG Worlds of Adventure is the answer. It's an indoor theme park with 20+ fun (and some gut-wrenching) rides that will leave you feeling like a kid again.

The most popular ride is the Velociraptor, which was exhilarating! The Hulk Epsilon Base 3D was also fun; this is where you get into a circular dome projection cinema and be part of a mission.

IMG Worlds of Adventure in Dubai | Travel Asia | Memento Vivere by Andi

Tip: Using the park map, plot your adventure before going around so you know where to go and save time (this will allow you to get on more rides).

11 AYA Universe

If you want a light activity after a week of adventures, visiting AYA Universe in Wafi City Mall is a great idea.

It’s a digital playground that combines art, nature, and technology. As you can tell from its name, the theme of this attraction is the Universe. Like most of the places mentioned above, the place is also immersive. It has different themed zones that you can explore using your AYA Passport.

Note: AYA Universe is not advisable for individuals with epilepsy or light photosensitivity because of the strobe lights.

12 Madame Tussauds Wax Museum

Feast your eyes on impressive wax figures at Madame Tussauds Dubai (Bluewaters Island). This glitzy museum has seven zones with your favorite politicians, sports superstars, movie stars, and Bollywood idols. Props are available to make your shots look better.

Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Dubai | Travel Blogs Asia | UAE

Visiting Madame Tussauds is ideal if you want to have a relaxed afternoon. It's more like a place to see the wax pieces and take photos.

While you're there, you can walk along the promenade or check out the other establishments.

Tip: Bring a water bottle, as there is a water refilling station outside the mall (you’ll see this when you take the back exit, the one facing Dubai Eye).

More Locations to Add to Your Itinerary

Need more options? Here are a few more spots for you to consider: Wild Wadi Waterpark Jumeirah, Atlantis Aquaventure, Ski Dubai (inside Mall of the Emirates), Dubai Creek (book a dhow cruise), Jumeirah Mosque, Kite Beach, Global Village, and Dubai Miracle Garden (seasonal; they are open from November to April).

It’s a beautiful place full of tourists that is easy to navigate. This vibrant spot in UAE is an organized city that is generally safe for everyone, solo travelers included.

If you are heading there soon, keep reading. Today, we’ll talk about the basics. Then, in the second part of this guide, the places you can visit.

Dubai Travel Guide | Memento Vivere | A Lifestyle Blog by Andi

A Quick Background | Where you’re Going

Before we jump in, it’s always good to know a few things about the place that you’re visiting, so here are some:

 • Dubai is one of the seven emirates that form part of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is the largest city-state in the country. It was founded in 1833;

 • Dubai is multicultural, and expatriates constitute the majority of its population;

 • It is also the home of structures that hold world records, such as: the deepest pool (Deep Dive), tallest hotel (Gevora Hotel), tallest building (Burj Khalifa), and the largest picture frame (Dubai Frame), among a whole lot more.

Travel Insurance

Getting health insurance is not mandatory for travelers heading to Dubai, but it is highly advisable, just in case anything happens to you during your stay.

Arrival at Dubai International Airport (DXB) & SIM Cards

Entry to Dubai is fast and hassle-free. You only have to present your valid visa (if applicable), passport, and hotel accommodation document.

As for SIM cards, they give out free Du SIM cards before they let you pass through. Once you activate it, you can claim your 1GB of mobile data and start using the number to sign up for the mobile apps you need to download for your trip. Note: the 1GB data expires after 24 hours- just enough to get you started.

If you’re not interested in the free SIM, you can get your own from Du or Etisalat (available at the airport and inside most malls). Another option is opting for an e-SIM from Airalo. See their available packages for UAE here.

Airalo e-SIM Registration | How Airalo works

During our trips, on both our 7-day and 28-day stays, we were able to go around and enjoy our activities without purchasing a SIM card (yup, this is okay). We just used the hotel wi-fi or connected to the network of the establishments we visited. Public wi-fi is also available almost everywhere in case you need to look something up.

Currency & Payment Methods

The Arab Emirates Dirham (AED) is the official currency of the UAE, which is among the most stable ones in the world. For making payments, you can use your card or pay through online channels, but it is still advisable to keep cash, especially if you are traveling as a tourist.

Outfits

Dubai is not strict when it comes to outfits, but it’s good to dress modestly in public places since it is still part of a Muslim country. You can still wear your favorite shorts or tank top, as long as they’re not too short or revealing to the point that they look distasteful for an afternoon stroll.

Since it is hot outside even at night, I suggest going for comfortable clothing with fabrics made from cotton or linen. If you have summer dresses and light, airy tops hidden in your closet, this would be the place to wear them.

Dubai Outfit Ideas | What to wear in Dubai

Transportation & Getting Around

There are different ways to get around Dubai. You can ride the train, hop on a bus, or book a taxi. If you’re staying for quite some time, you can get a Dubai Metro NOL pass (as suggested by my friend), which you can use for the Dubai Metro, buses, and water taxis. You can get this from the ticketing offices at Dubai Metro stations.

For us, the latter was the best option because it saved us a lot of time, and there was never an instance where it was hard to get a taxi. The Dubai government regulates most of these taxis, so they are safe.

Mobile Applications

These mobile applications can be helpful during your stay, and you can sign up using your Dubai number:

 • Careem- car, taxi, food, groceries, and more

 • Cobone- deals and promos for activities

 • Headout- deals and promos for activities

 • Uber- car, taxi services

 • Talabat- food delivery (recommended)

Where to Stay | Picking your Hotel

There are plenty of great hotels you can choose from in Dubai. It’s just a matter of preference. Factors to consider include affordability, accessibility, facilities, and safety. For reference, here are some hotels you might want to check online: Rove at the Park, Grand Mercure, Wyndham Dubai Deira, White Fort Hotel, Novotel Bur Dubai, or Savoy Suites Hotel Apartment.

We stayed at the Grand Excelsior Hotel in Bur Dubai during the two times we went there. The front desk people were so-so, but the bellman, restaurant servers, and cleaning staff were friendly. We also enjoyed the amenities, especially the sauna.

The pool area at Grand Excelsior BurDubai

Grand Excelsior is near Dubai Frame, Al Seef, BurJuman Mall, and Al Mankhool Library. It is at the heart of Old Dubai, accessible to convenience stores and other establishments.

Shopping

With dozens of boutiques and souks, you’ll never run out of shopping options in Dubai. Here are some places you can visit:

Malls

 • Dubai Outlet Mall

 • Dubai Festival City Mall

 • City Walk

 • The Wharf at Bluewaters Island

 • Wafi City (this is where AYA Universe is)

 • BurJuman Mall

 • Dubai Marina Mall

 • Dubai Mall

 • Mall of the Emirates

Souks

 • Gold Souk

 • Al Seef Heritage Souq

 • Dubai Textile Souk

 • Meena Bazaar in Al Fahidi

 • Spice Souk

 • Souk Madinat Jumeirah

Where to buy Pasalubong/ Gifts

You can shop for gifts at all the destinations I mentioned in this post, but here are some of the best stores that offer reasonably-priced goods if you plan to get gifts for many people.

 • Al Jaber Gallery- they have a lot of unique finds and customized items you can display in your home or give as gifts. They have branches in Dubai Mall, Bluewaters Island, Souk Madinat, and more.

 • Day to Day- the best store to shop for cute and affordable Dubai souvenirs. Clothes, slippers, and other essentials you may need during your trip are also available here.

Jewelry at the Gold Souk in Dubai

Others | Practical Tips

 • Like most cities in the Philippines, Dubai charges for the use of plastic bags, so it would be better if you bring your own each time you go to the grocery (it's a simple, sustainable action, too).

 • It’s best to buy bottled water from the grocery or the convenience store, then take some with you when you go out, rather than buying outside- unless outside food and drinks are prohibited. You can save a lot from doing this and use the saved money for something else. To give you an example, a 500mL bottle typically costs 3-5 AED outside (it was 10 AED at IMG Worlds of Adventure), while at the grocery, it’s around AED 0.95 per bottle.

 • If you have friends or family in Dubai, it would be best to ask for recommendations and/or meet with them.

 • Plan your days ahead to maximize your stay and check which attractions are within the same area.

 • Remember to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a cap or hat to protect yourself from the heat.

That would be all for today. Feel free to share this Dubai travel guide to whoever may need it. Thanks for reading!

It is also one of the many ways you can practice self-care.

Today, I’ll take you to a relaxation spa called Lomi Imua. It is a newly-opened establishment in Arcovia. I noticed it a week after they opened because they had flowers outside and friendly staff members giving away leaflets.

This is how the spa looks from the outside.

Lomi Imua Hawaiian Relaxation Spa offers traditional Hawaiian massages and body treatments that help promote good wellbeing.

The Place | Location & Address

You can find it at Arcovia in Pasig City, beside Samgyupsalamat.

Arcovia is located along Eulogio Rodriguez Jr. Avenue (C-5 Road) in Barangay Ugong, Pasig City.

The Experience | Massage, Customer Service, Overall

The experience starts with picking your service of choice and signing a form. You have the option to pay before or after your treatment. After that, you're all set. You can head to the foot bath section (where they do a quick wash) and go to the second floor for your session. The masseuse will meet you there.

The spa is clean and fragrant. There was no one else during our visit, so it was quiet. I like the vibe, but the temperature was too cold for me. Lucky, we got the hot stone massage, so that kind of addressed the issue.

If you need to go to the bathroom, there's one downstairs.

As for the customer service, I’d give it five stars. They were consistent from start to finish, and were happy to assist.

Lomi Imua Spa Review

I felt so relaxed after. My husband and I availed of the hot stone massage, which was relaxing and something new for us. For someone who gets cold quickly, I enjoyed the heat. The hot stones are what made it different from the typical massage. I highly recommend it for a more therapeautic experience.

We are entering March soon, and wow. I say it a lot, but time does fly fast. Today, I'll share some of what's been up lately.

Just Life, Lately

January was great. It was the start of the year, and most people I knew were in reset mode. Of course, starting over is something you can do anytime, but I guess doing it in the new year is exciting for many (myself included).

Random setup

We went back home on the second week for Papa’s birthday celebration. We also got to see my cousins Kuya Jepoy and Josh. I did a lot of journaling at this time. The stickers I got from Mr. DIY got me excited. I found new designs perfect for my diaries and planners.

Lunar New Year, Valentine’s Day, and Birthdays

I heard the fireworks at Manila Chinatown in Binondo were magnificent, but since it's far from where we live, we just went to see the one in Arcovia (we like it here because it's close and there is a lot of walking space). There was also a dragon dance performance, which is said to ward off evil spirits and bad luck.

Chinese New Year in the Philippines is something many Filipinos participate in, especially in Binondo, the oldest Chinatown in the world.

Arco de Emperador at Arcovia City in Pasig

For Valentine’s Day, my husband took me out; we had a brunch date at a nearby restaurant cafe. My nose was so stuffy I sounded like a minion lol, and it was quite challenging to laugh and smile with all the congestion, but we had a relaxing time.

Brunch at Arcovia

We stayed there for quite a while, grabbed pizza, then went home. I drank so much Salabat (fresh ginger tea) that same afternoon because I didn't feel well and didn't want to get sick. Many people were coughing and sneezing when we were outside.

________

My friend’s mom planned a surprise birthday celebration for her, so we attended while we were here, and it was fun. We enjoyed the games they prepared, and the Jollibee mascots were complete. I love Twirlie! She is so cute.

Jolibee mascots | Mr. Yum, Twirlie, Hetty, Jollibee, and Popo

Snaps

Just some more photos from this month's camera album. After a traumatic experience in the province when my in-laws were at war (this lasted for years during the pandemic), the last thing I want is to stay there for a long time, it's got a different vibe. Anyone who got involved with them had a hard time. My MIL is kind even though she keeps playing safe and avoiding responsibility, but my FIL, in particular, is just something else. If I had the capability to heal people instantly from emotional wounds so they do not inflict pain upon others, I would have already done so. Anyway. What matters is that we have a great family support system, and I am very thankful for that- especially to my loving parents.

I joined an online contest for fun and won. I joined an online contest for fun and won. The mechanics were: (1) to write a letter to my future self using any Pilot products, and (2) post a photo of it in the comments section- so that's what I did.

Dear Future Self promo by Pilot Pens Philippines | Entry

I enjoyed writing the letter and was one of the winners. The special gift arrived a few days later, and it was a set of highlighters with a cute teddy bear chain. Of course, I could have just bought them myself if I wanted to, but the joy was in the journey; in participating. Thank you, Pilot! These are really nice.

Pasig City Emergency Go Bag

Our local government has started giving away Emergency Go Bags, and I am happy with the contents. It is a fully equipped bag, almost complete with the essentials. I'm going to make a separate post about it soon. Below is a photo of a kit included in that bag. Edit: I've uploaded a YouTube video showing the contents of this blog, you can watch it here.

I guess that would be all for today. That's life lately.

I hope we all remember to live and find purpose in the things we do.

Thank you for reading, and have a great week. Remember that life is short, don't take it for granted

<![CDATA[The Impact of Medical Data Solutions on Patient Care and Management]]>https://www.andltorre.com/single-post/the-impact-of-medical-data-solutions-on-patient-care-and-management65cade4ca959420d67359114Fri, 16 Feb 2024 10:00:15 GMTSteve Watts | Guest WriterThe healthcare landscape in the Philippines has been evolving rapidly, with a growing emphasis on leveraging technology to improve patient care and management. Integrating medical data solutions has played a pivotal role in this transformation, revolutionizing how healthcare is delivered and managed in the country. These innovations, from electronic health records to telemedicine and data analytics, have significantly enhanced the quality of care and patient outcomes.

Healthcare in the Philippines

The Philippines, an archipelago in Southeast Asia, faces numerous challenges in its healthcare system, including limited access to medical facilities, uneven distribution of healthcare professionals, and a high burden of preventable diseases. The country's healthcare system is predominantly funded by the government, with a mix of public and private healthcare providers catering to the population.

Despite these challenges, the Philippines has made strides in improving healthcare accessibility, with initiatives to expand medical facilities and enhance healthcare training programs. Telemedicine is gaining traction as a valuable tool to bridge gaps and reach remote areas, providing consultations and medical advice. Non-governmental organizations and community-based efforts also play a crucial role in addressing healthcare disparities and promoting preventive measures.

Medical professionals ready to serve patients

As the country continues to navigate these challenges, there is a growing recognition of the need for collaborative efforts and innovative solutions to achieve more equitable healthcare outcomes for all.

Importance of Medical Data Solutions

Medical data solutions have emerged as a critical enabler for addressing the challenges in the Philippine healthcare system. By harnessing the power of health data, these solutions facilitate efficient and effective care delivery, enable informed decision-making, and improve patient outcomes. The seamless integration of technology and healthcare has paved the way for a more patient-centric approach, enhancing the overall quality of healthcare services.

Electronic Health Records (EHR) in the Philippines

Electronic Health Records (EHR) adoption in the Philippines recently gained momentum. Healthcare facilities nationwide are increasingly transitioning from paper-based records to electronic systems, streamlining the documentation and management of patient health information. Initiatives to standardize EHR implementation and ensure interoperability among healthcare providers have supported this shift.

Implementing EHR systems has brought many benefits to patient care and management in the Philippines. EHRs enable healthcare professionals to access medical records seamlessly, improving care coordination and reducing medical errors. Moreover, EHRs empower patients to manage their health by providing secure access to their health information.

Healthcare technology solutions to improve patient care management

Telemedicine and Remote Patient Monitoring

Telemedicine has emerged as a game-changer in the Philippine healthcare landscape, especially in remote and underserved areas. Advancements in telemedicine technology have facilitated virtual consultations, remote diagnosis, and the delivery of healthcare services to patients who may have limited access to standard healthcare facilities.

The impact of telemedicine on patient care and management has been profound, particularly in improving access to healthcare services. Through telemedicine, patients can connect with healthcare providers, receive timely medical advice, and access specialist consultations, ultimately leading to better health outcomes.

For more information on telemedicine and other medical data solutions, visit Visaya KPO. Visaya KPO is a firm based in the Philippines that provides excellent healthcare services like chronic care management and telehealth while upholding the cultural essence of 'malasakit.'

Data Analytics for Healthcare Decision-Making

The utilization of data analytics in the Philippines' healthcare system has enabled healthcare providers to derive meaningful insights from health data. Advanced analytics tools and platforms, such as Microsoft Cloud Healthcare and Azure Health Data Services, have empowered healthcare organizations to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

By harnessing the power of healthcare data analytics, healthcare providers in the Philippines can proactively identify health risks, personalize treatment plans, and optimize resource allocation. Data-driven insights are crucial in improving preventive care, chronic disease management, and population health management, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.

Healthcare data analytics

Challenges and Future Outlook

Despite the significant strides in leveraging medical data solutions, implementing these technologies in the Philippines is challenging. Data privacy and the digital divide in remote areas obstruct the widespread adoption of medical data solutions.

However, further advancements in medical data solutions have the potential to continue revolutionizing healthcare in the Philippines. With ongoing efforts to address the challenges and expand access to health data services, the country is poised to witness a profound impact on patient care and management, driving toward a more inclusive and efficient healthcare system.

Conclusion

Integrating medical data solutions, including EHR systems, telemedicine, and data analytics, has significantly transformed patient care and management in the Philippines. These innovations have enhanced access to healthcare services, improved care coordination, and empowered healthcare providers with insights to deliver personalized and effective care.

As the Philippines continues to embrace healthcare innovation, the future holds promising prospects for further advancements in medical data solutions. By addressing the existing challenges and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, the country is poised to witness a paradigm shift in healthcare delivery, ultimately improving the health and well-being of its population.

<![CDATA[Sunny Sunday Brunch at Casa Mellifera in Rizal]]>https://www.andltorre.com/single-post/casa-mellifera-in-taytay-rizal-blog-review65be18c4abd245c3161403f1Fri, 09 Feb 2024 11:11:05 GMTAndi Dela Torre GriffithsIt was a relaxing Sunday, and we wanted to change things up a bit, so we left the city and headed to Rizal to get brunch at Casa Mellifera- a great suggestion from my sister. Today, I’ll show you around the place and share our experience. Let’s go!

Casa Mellifera in Taytay, Rizal Review

So, while they accept walk-ins (we were walk-in customers), I think it would be best to make a reservation so you can secure your table.

The Location | Where is it located?

The restaurant is inside a subdivision, so you need a pass. You can get this from the guard as you enter. Just say you’re going to Casa Mellifera. Once you get your pass, keep driving until you see Burrow Cafe, then keep going until you see a gate to your left with their sign (it looks small from afar).

Casa Mellifera at Beverly Hills Subdivision | Taytay Rizal

It’s not accessible for commuters. It would be better to take your car or motorcycle if you want to visit.

Address: 133 Beverly Hills Dr, Subdivision, Taytay

The Ambiance at Casa Mellifera

As you can already tell, the place has a great ambiance. It’s simple, homey, and clean. It looks like the perfect place for brunch or afternoon snacks.

A relaxing spot in Rizal

They have an air-conditioned dining area and al fresco spots that customers can choose from. We stayed outside because the indoor section was already full. It turned out fine because it was more spacious and felt more private.

The Food

I can’t remember the exact names of the foods we ordered, but here are some of them: lechon kawali, beef with mushroom, carbonara with garlic bread, mushroom soup, and honey garlic chicken (not in photos). Rice is sold separately.

The mushroom soup is highly recommended. So yum!

The chicken sandwich was okay. I think it’s the same chicken from our honey garlic chicken order because they tasted the same.

The carbonara is ideal if you like pasta. But if you want something you can eat with rice, the beef with mushrooms is a great pick.

There were not a lot of options for the drinks, so we just went to Cafe Agusta for our afternoon beverages.

You can feed the bees inside the air-conditioned dining area by the door. Just ask the staff. They are happy to assist and have good customer service. You can also try the honey.

Outfit | What to Wear

OOTD | Casae Mellifera in Taytay, Rizal

Since it was a brunch date with the fam, I wore a super comfortable day dress from Shopee. The bag and flats are from Nine West in Dubai, but you can also get them from the boutiques here in Manila or through Zalora on this link.

I opted for light makeup with my hair down.

Others

 • We went on a weekday. We were lucky to find a parking space not far from the restaurant. I suggest going there early so you can pick your spot;

 • They have a 10% service charge;

 • There’s an apiary at the back. An apiary is a place where beehives are kept;

 • Wear comfortable clothes and shoes;

 • The term Mellifera is Latin for “honey-bearing” (hence Apis Mellifera being the scientific name for honey bee).

<![CDATA[A Weekday Staycation at The Linden Suites in Ortigas]]>https://www.andltorre.com/single-post/a-weekday-staycation-at-the-linden-suites-in-ortigas65afad1ae82e9e2f4779fff4Sat, 27 Jan 2024 11:27:03 GMTAndi Dela Torre GriffithsLast week, we enjoyed a staycation at The Linden Suites in Ortigas, courtesy of the hotel- it was a prize from the contest I joined last year when we stayed there in early December. I got first place, so the reward was an overnight stay at their 2-bedroom suite (for four people), complete with buffet breakfast at The Happy Chef.

Awesome treat. Thankful for it. Today, I’ll show you around our suite.

Arrival and Check In at The Linden Suites

Check-in was easy because we went on a weekday. There’s a 2,000-peso security deposit for incidental expenses during your stay (if any).

The Linden Suites lobby

First Impressions of The Suite | Room Amenities

Upon entry, I was glad to see how spacious the living room was. The view from there was perfect too. There’s a dining table for four, a full-length mirror for your outfit check, a comfortable lounge chair, and a couch in front of the TV if you want to watch your show.

There is also a small study desk in the corner if you want to read a book or write in your journal with some privacy. It’s the perfect writer’s nook.

As for the kitchen, it has a built-in induction cooker, a regular-sized fridge, as well as plates and cutlery for four. There is also a coffee maker with a pack of coffee grounds (for 2-3 cups).

2-bedroom suite kitchen | The Linden Suites

Now, let’s go to the equally spacious master bedroom- which I love. It has a queen bed, a full-length mirror, an executive desk, a TV set, and cabinets.

You can see Megamall and ADB Avenue from here. It provides a great view of this section of the business district. I love the view. I grew up in this city and have seen it develop over the years, but it feels different viewing it from a higher ground than walking in its streets.

The other room has two single beds, a vanity table, and a bathroom with another bathtub; this is where my family stayed when they arrived late at night.

Hotel Facilities

As for the facilities, they have a lot. They have dining, swimming, wellness, and parking facilities. There are also function rooms available for business conferences or events.

The Linden's temperature-controlled indoor swimming pool | Hotels in Ortigas, Pasig

We went swimming the same afternoon we arrived, and I must say, I totally enjoyed the temperature-controlled pool and jacuzzi with the city view. We didn’t try it the last time we were here, so we stayed for an hour.

They also have a health club.

The Health Club

The Health Club is where you can hit the gym, enjoy the sauna, or get spa treatments (9th floor). It’s a great place to relax and unwind.

Breakfast at The Happy Chef

For breakfast, we went to The Happy Chef early. Classic Filipino favorites were served and the food was good. After breakfast, we went back up to rest a bit more while waiting to check out. I also had a soak, then watched the movie Margaux.

Staycation at The Linden, a great way to start the year

Others:

 • Booked guests are entitled to one (1) parking space;

 • There is a convenient store outside the hotel's main entrance;

 • You can also go through the back and cross to Pearl Drive for more dining options;

 • Note that moving of furniture isn’t allowed- you could get fined with a hefty amount for that (read the fine print when you book).

Overall Experience

I highly recommend this hotel for couples and families. It’s good to be in a convenient location and have a lot of space when you’re on a quick staycation (or are working remotely from a hotel).

<![CDATA[A Trip to the 1880s at Hotel Luna in Vigan City]]>https://www.andltorre.com/single-post/a-trip-to-the-1880s-at-hotel-luna-in-vigan-city659c1f044bbd0607a25ceb22Thu, 11 Jan 2024 13:40:06 GMTAndi Dela Torre GriffithsFor many tourists, the historic city of Vigan is a must-visit when traveling to the Ilocos region. Aside from its cuisine, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for its churches, old-stone houses preserved since the Spanish era, cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages (calesas), and rustic hotels like the one we're showing you today.

The First Museum Hotel in the Philippines | Hotel Luna in Vigan

At the heart of Vigan is where you can find the Philippines' first museum hotel- Hotel Luna.

Hotel Luna in Vigan, Ilocos Sur | Accommodation near Calle Crisologo

According to an article from Alfred& by Kuoni, the establishment's story dates back to the 1880s, when Don Florentino of Vigan gifted his daughter the property as a wedding gift. Then, later, in 2013, a development corporation acquired the four-storey building and restored it as a hotel.

Where to Find It & How to Book your Stay

Address: Antonio Luna corner Ventura de los Reyes Street, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur

You can book a room directly through their website or via the travel app Klook ⬅️

First Impressions

Hotel Luna isn’t hard to find because it’s only within walking distance from Calle Crisologo. You can walk from there or take a calesa to complete your Vigan experience. My first impression upon entering the establishment was that of amazement. The receiving area had a lot of paintings, art sculptures, and fixtures that go with their arched entryway. Of course, they have a grand chandelier (made of Swarovski crystals) to top it all off. Old elegance.

Hotel Luna lobby

I love the carved ceilings and staircases. There are also art installations everywhere.

Hotel Luna's lobby | Boutique hotel in the Philippines (Ilocos Sur)

The Room | Guest Experience

The room was okay. We got the Queen Standard Room; a cozy, comfortable room ideal for resting. But for the price, I think the space is too small. Also, while the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom had a Japanese toilet, the carpet seemed past its date. It needed some cleaning, too. Compared with the rooms we booked at other hotels (within the same price range), this one did not offer as much value, amenities-wise. It feels like you are paying more for the location than the accommodation, which was not a big issue. The property sits on a UNESCO heritage site, after all. I just hoped the room looked nicer and brighter.

Queen Standard Room at Hotel Luna in Vigan, Ilocos Sur
The vanity area inside our room

What is UNESCO? What does it mean to be part of their Heritage List?

UNESCO is an agency that aims to promote “world peace and security through international cooperation in education, arts, sciences and culture”. It is under the United Nations organization.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites are those considered to have an “outstanding universal value". Examples of other UNESCO sites in the Philippines include the Tubbataha Reef and Banaue Rice Terraces. In other parts of Asia, we have the Taj Mahal, Great Wall of China, and Yakushima Island, among many others.

Going back to where we were…

The Food

The plated breakfast was so-so; the options were Longsilog, Tapsilog, and Hotsilog (the rest weren't available). They were filling but not that satisfying. I think next time we'll try ordering from their restaurant Comedor. It may make a difference.

Since we still wanted to eat, we went to Cafe Bigaa (see photos below), Vigan Plaza Hotel's restaurant.

The Staff

I’ve read about unpleasant experiences from other guests about their staff, but thankfully, all the ones who assisted us were friendly. The guard was happy to welcome us, and the front desk lady checked us in quickly without any hassle.

The Guest Facilities & Hotel Interiors

Hotel Luna’s main guest facilities include the lobby, gym, Comedor (which means dining room), a viewing terrace, and the pool.

Inside Hotel Luna in Vigan, Ilocos Sur | The view from the corridor

At the viewing terrace, there is a three-dimensional mural representing the city’s rich history and vibrant culture. That is the work of the late Filipino artist Rene Robles, whose other creations belong to the private collections of Bill Clinton and King Juan Carlos. You can see it in the image above. The mural is the one on the upper right.

Azotea | the view from Hotel Luna's rooftop bar
The clean floors at Hotel Luna's corridors

As you can see from the photos, the hotel interiors take inspiration from the Spanish colonial period, characterized by decorative tiles, dark wood, wrought iron railings, brick walls, and intricate designs. Hotel Luna ticks all those boxes and more. The artistic aspect is the redeeming factor for me. It compensated for the room.

The Museum at Hotel Luna in Vigan

The courtyard pool is a great spot to relax or read a book. It’s a quiet area where you can appreciate the sophistication of the place, whether you’re facing the scenic elevator or the building. At night, it didn't look as advertised, though. It was dark and the lights outside were off.

The courtyard pool at Hotel Luna in Vigan, Ilocos Sur

The Museum

Of course, it wouldn’t be a museum hotel if it didn’t have a museum. Here’s a photo of it. Feast your eyes with works from Fernando Amorsolo, Ben Cab, and other local artists.

Thoughts

It’s a beautiful hotel, and I’m glad we went to see what they had to offer, but I think it’s more like a place to visit to satisfy curiosity or if you want a different experience. Being there does feel like an escape from the busyness of modern times. Hotel Luna in Vigan is also ideal for photoshoots and special events.

Trivia

The hotel's name takes inspiration from Filipino painter Juan Luna, who hails from Ilocos. He's the man behind the painting “Spoliarium”.

Today, I am sharing some of my favorite moments from December last year- more like a late holiday Life Lately.

Holiday Things

We have been constantly traveling to and from the city. Most of the time, we schedule our trips, but other times, it is spontaneous. Last December, we visited my family twice: (1) to celebrate my birthday with them and (2) to show support for my dad's Christmas party for his agents. Bale apat na bus rides yun kasi nag commute kami twice, back and forth.

So, for my birthday week, I attended an event with my mom and sister, then had dinner with the whole family at a nearby mall. We had a simple celebration worth every minute. We maximized our stay and did whatever we could because we had to leave the day after my birthday.

For our second trip, we only stayed for less than a week. We went back to attend my father's party for his agents at Cafe Esa. I am so glad we went because it was fun and we could not spend the holidays with them. We left two days after that, I think. Nakakapagod din magpabalik balik ah, para nadin kaming nakatira sa bus hehe ok lang naman pero hirap ako makatulog sa byahe.

Maligayang Pasko Hello from our Puppies

My husband and I spent Christmas here in the province because we had to look after my in-laws' lodging. It was busy, and we had to attend to all the guests' needs. We were in the kitchen most of the time, packing meals or cleaning.

Since the area where we're at is a quiet spot where you can't see any decor, we ordered a tree on Shopee! We didn't get a tree skirt anymore because we have little pups inside the house, and we don't want them pulling it from the Christmas tree. Here's the tree (and our Aspins).

Merry Christmas & God Bless =)

And speaking of dogs…

Look what I found while getting veggies from the vegetable stand- a cute dog! So pretty and adorable. Pawbili po, char lang baka di ka natawa dun lol. Ang cute nya oh, huhu kahit di pa nagsusuklay sobrang adorable. She reminds me of our Maltipoo Barbie. Medyo hawig sila. Super cute.

I think that would be all for today. We'll leave for the city again next week, so I hope you stay in touch because I'm creating more food and travel content. Once again, happy new year and I hope you have a great year ahead ❤️

<![CDATA[An Afternoon with Shiseido + Afternoon Stroll]]>https://www.andltorre.com/single-post/an-afternoon-with-shiseido-afternoon-stroll6583c23272ebaf640e4f5451Sun, 24 Dec 2023 04:32:23 GMTAndi Dela Torre GriffithsA few weeks ago, my sister and I were mama’s chaperones for the day at a Shiseido event in Taguig. The invite was for our mom, but since she wanted to take us- we went with her as her plus twos.

The lovely Christmas tree at Arthaland Pacific Tower in Taguig

We got there a bit late, but it was okay because it was more like a relaxed afternoon gathering.

Shiseido Omotenashi Holiday Event

The organizers held the event in the show suite of Eluria at Arthaland Pacific Tower in Bonifacio Global City, which looks so elegant and exclusive (but too luxurious for my taste, lol). I initially wondered why they chose a model suite as a venue until a beauty consultant mentioned it was a collaboration.

Eluria is an upcoming luxury development soon to rise in Makati City. It is the latest project of Arthaland, a real estate developer that boasts of a sustainable commercial and residential portfolio.

Omotenashi Defined

Omotenashi is a Japanese concept of good hospitality. It takes form in understanding the guests' needs even without them saying, showing graciousness throughout, and providing the best possible service. What sets it apart from regular hospitality is the attention to detail and the mindfulness aspect.

It is also part of the Japanese tea ceremony (I guess that explains why there was a tea class during the event).

Omotenashi Holiday Event | A Lifestyle Blog by Andi | Asia

They had a nice setup: plenty of gift bags, products ready for purchase, and large displays of their most popular items, such as the Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate.

Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate from Shiseido

The receiving area was a bit crowded, so we headed straight to the other side where the rooms, the kitchen, and the dining area were.

Shiseido treated all its guests to an afternoon of snacks, drinks, relaxation, exclusive buy one get one deals, and beauty bundles. All purchases came with deluxe-sized freebies.

What else was there?

There was a tea appreciation section, a hand massage area, and other spaces for demos or chit-chat. Bet and I were in the kitchen most of the time, where they served snacks and drinks. We had a great time.

I think it was around five years ago when I first attended their event at Yakumi in Solaire (also with my mom). It was fun; the food was delicious, we had a conversation with those with us at the table, and they had gift boxes. Aside from my mother, whose choices I trust, the event convinced me to try some of their makeup. I noticed that most of Shiseido's makeup concepts lean towards the cleaner yet sophisticated look. Beautiful but not overdone.

Mother-daughter date | Memento Vivere | A Lifestyle Blog by Andi | Philippines

The products I have used in the past include Shiseido Synchro Skin Foundation, Shimmering Eye Cream Color, and ModernMatte Powder lipstick- all of which I have mentioned in a previous blog post and vlog.

At the moment, I am using the original brands I have been with for a long time, but there's no denying that Shiseido's products are high quality. And you can tell the difference when you use them.

Here’s their 2023 advent calendar:

Anyway. After the event, we met with my husband and dad. We went on a quick stroll while waiting for the evening mass. It was a great Sunday; we were complete, and it was the perfect moment to take a family photo.

So, there's a little story behind the image below: we were trying to take a group selfie, but were struggling to get everyone in. Then, this sweet lady offered to take our photo. She approached us and asked if we wanted her to capture the moment, of course we said yes! Hehe. She did a great job. We weren't able to ask for her name (she was rushing), but that was really nice of her. Here's one of the photos she took:

I guess that would be all for today. Make sure to check out the blog page for other articles.

Happy Holidays! May you receive more love, good health, and abundance in the coming year. Stay safe always

<![CDATA[The Unsung Heroes for Working Moms? Childminders]]>https://www.andltorre.com/single-post/why-professional-childminders-are-the-unsung-heroes-for-working-filipina-moms657d1d9f47899f28be398409Mon, 18 Dec 2023 07:43:34 GMTSteve Watts | Guest WriterFilipina moms today face a unique set of challenges when it comes to balancing work and family responsibilities. With the increasing number of women joining the workforce, the need for reliable and trusted child caregivers has become more important than ever. This is where professional childminders play a crucial role in supporting working Filipina moms, yet their contributions often go unnoticed and underappreciated.

In this article, we will explore the key reasons why professional childminders are the unsung heroes for working Filipina moms, and the impact they have on these moms' lives.

Why Professional Childminders are the Unsung Heroes for Working Filipina Moms

Asian mom and kid doing a school homework together | Inna Circle Childminding Services Philippines

What is the Role of Professional Childminders?

Professional childminders play a multifaceted role in a child’s life, extending far beyond mere supervision. They are entrusted with the well-being, safety, and developmental growth of children in their care.

Specialized Skills of Childminders

Professional childminders possess specialized skills, such as first aid and child behavior management. This enables them to handle emergencies and challenging situations with ease, ensuring the children's safety and well-being at all times.

Nutritious Meal Planning

When it comes to meal preparation, childminders take into consideration the dietary restrictions and preferences of each child. They carefully plan nutritious and balanced meals, ensuring that the children receive the necessary nutrients for their growth and development. Childminders also encourage children to develop healthy eating habits, teaching them about the importance of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Organizing Engaging Activities

In addition to providing meals, childminders organize a variety of activities to keep the children engaged and stimulated. They plan age-appropriate games, arts and crafts projects, and outdoor playtime to promote physical activity and creativity. These activities not only entertain the children but also help them develop important skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and self-expression.

Homework Support Environment

Childminders also play a crucial role in supporting children with their homework. They create a calm and conducive environment where children can concentrate and complete their assignments. Childminders offer guidance and assistance when needed, helping children develop their academic skills and fostering a love for learning.

Facilitating Child Socialization

Childminders understand the importance of socialization for children's overall development. They organize playdates and outings, allowing children to interact with their peers and develop social skills such as sharing, empathy, and conflict resolution. Childminders also facilitate opportunities for children to engage in group activities, encouraging teamwork and cooperation.

Emergency Preparedness and Response

Professional childminders undergo training in first aid and child behavior management to ensure the safety and well-being of the children in their care. They are equipped with the knowledge and skills to handle emergencies, accidents, and illnesses. Childminders are trained to administer first aid, perform CPR if necessary, and promptly seek medical attention when needed. Their ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations is crucial for providing a secure and nurturing environment for the children.

What are the Challenges Faced by Working Filipina Moms?

Working Filipina moms grapple with the overwhelming challenges of balancing professional obligations and family duties, often feeling torn between the two realms. The struggle is intensified by societal expectations and judgments, where stereotypes fuel guilt and a perpetual pressure to excel in both the workplace and domestic life. This emotional whirlwind is particularly challenging as they navigate the dual demands of their careers and the desire to be fully present for their children.

What is the Impact of Childminders on Working Moms' Lives?

Professional childminders provide a much-needed support system for working Filipina moms. By entrusting their children to capable childminders, moms can focus on their careers with peace of mind, knowing that their children are well taken care of.

Emotional Support for Moms

Childminders offer emotional support to moms, understanding the challenges they face and providing a listening ear. They create a nurturing environment where working moms can freely express their concerns and seek advice without fear of judgment or criticism.

Facilitating Work-Life Balance

Childminders also play a vital role in helping moms achieve a better work-life balance. By managing the daily chores and activities associated with child care, they enable moms to dedicate more quality time to their families. This allows working moms to create lasting memories and build stronger relationships with their children.

Working moms in the Philippines | Inna Circle childminding services

When it comes to finding childcare services that you can trust, Inna Circle is your premier destination. They offer an exceptional cadre of professional childminders who are dedicated to providing a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for your children. The childminders are not only selected for their professional credentials and expertise but also for their commitment to creating a positive and enriching experience for each child.

What is the Importance of Recognizing Childminders' Efforts?

It is crucial to recognize and value the efforts of professional childminders. Often working silently in the background, they dedicate themselves to the well-being and development of the children in their care. By appreciating their contributions, we can motivate and encourage childminders to continue providing high-quality care and support to working Filipina moms.

Appreciation and respect for childminders also play a significant role in fostering a positive working environment. By acknowledging their dedication and specialized skills, childminders feel empowered and valued, resulting in improved morale and job satisfaction.

Conclusion

In the bustling rhythm of the Philippines, where working moms strive to juggle careers and motherhood, professional childminders are the silent guardians facilitating this delicate balance. They are the unsung heroes who step in to provide care, education, and emotional support, allowing Filipina moms to pursue their professional dreams without compromising the nurturing their children need. These childminders do more than watch over the children; they shape futures by imparting values, knowledge, and the warmth of a safe haven.

As we acknowledge their indispensable role, we realize that they are not just part of the workforce; they are the extended family, the village it takes to raise a child. So we end with a question that echoes in the hearts of grateful parents: Where would we be without the steadfast dedication and loving care of our professional childminders?

I hope you're doing well wherever you are while reading this post.

I’m taking you to a wax figure museum today- the famous Madame Tussauds; not in London or New York, but in Dubai, UAE. Let’s go!

Location | Madame Tussauds Museum in Dubai

Address: Bluewaters Mall, The Wharf at Bluewaters Island, Dubai, UAE.

Bluewaters Island is an artificial island that offers plenty of restaurants, boutiques, souvenir shops, and walking spaces. It is where the Ain Dubai is (world's largest and highest ferris wheel). It wasn’t operational when we visited, though.

Where to Get Your Tickets

You can purchase tickets from their website or through any of the following: Headout, Cobone, and Klook (link below):

We got the standard admission ticket online from a discount app, which was great because the rates were cheaper. It came with their VIP Digi Photo Pass, which you can use to download the photos you take in the selfie kiosks inside the museum.

Who is Madame Tussaud? Is she real?

Yes, she is real. Before she was Madame Tussaud, she was Marie Grosholtz, a Frenchwoman who moved to Switzerland with her mom after her father died in the war. There, they both worked for a physician named Philippe Curtius.

Marie Grosholtz Tussaud | History of Madame Tussaud Wax Museum | Dubai, UAE

This doctor Philippe (who made wax sculptures to illustrate anatomy) was the one who introduced Marie to wax modeling and helped her develop the necessary skills to master the craft. When he gave up his medical career and pursued wax modeling as an art, Marie joined him in his exhibitions.

It Hasn’t Always Been Glitzy | The Dark Past

Madame Tussauds may now be a popular destination known for its impressive and glamorous wax models, but as we can learn from her story, life is never all gold and glitter.

Marie and her mom went to prison during the French Revolution (online records mention that they sympathized with the royals, as she was a tutor in the Palace of Versailles). With this, the executioners shaved her head in preparation for her beheading. Many heads rolled literally during this gruesome time. Luckily, she got saved with the help of Philippe's connection.

After this, she was hired to make death masks and sculptures of dead people, those who got guillotined at that time (including the King and Queen)- a contrast from what the sculptors at her exhibits create today.

Marie's mentor, Philippe Curtius, left his wax collection to Marie when he died.

The first wax museum was founded in London in the 1830s. From there, they branched over and put up branches in different parts of the world, adding celebrities and public figures recognized in their respective regions. Here’s a photo inside their wax exhibit in Dubai.

So yeah, that’s it. Learning about the backstories of notable individuals is just as interesting as the individuals themselves- these stories give a realistic view of the journey. It shows the not-so-pretty parts, the struggles, and the sacrifices behind success.

The Zones | Who to find Inside the Museum

There are five zones inside Madame Tussauds Dubai: Leaders, Fashion, Film, Media, Bollywood, Sports, and the A-List Music Party.

My favorites were the Leaders, Fashion, and Music zones.

The Experience + Photos

You will find the establishment right away once you arrive at Bluewaters Mall. They have a big, Red, and sparkly signage outside that is impossible to miss. That is the souvenir store, though. The entrance to the attraction is inside the mall. It's also easy to spot with their logo and the signature Red background.

For starters, the place looks gorgeous. There’s a lot of Red, Gold, and shiny things. Glamorous branding. They are consistent with it throughout the experience.

Say hello to Lady Gaga. When you visit, she will be the first to greet you before you claim your passes and photo pass at the reception area. If you want souvenir-style photos, keep the Digi Photo Pass. It has the barcode you need to scan to use their selfie kiosks.

Now, for the experience, it was fantastic. It was fun from start to finish because there were a lot of displays, and the place was vibrant.

The staff members were friendly and offered to take our photos multiple times. It didn’t feel awkward to pose and have fun. Not to mention that there are also some props (in some areas) that you can use when you take photos with the figures.

Leaders Zone

Here are some photos from the first zone, where you can find India's Prime Minister Modi, former Pakistani stateswoman Benazir Bhutto, China's Xi Jinping, Queen Elizabeth II, Melania Trump, Donald Trump, and John Travolta (not sure why he is here). You can also find Marie Tussaud on the side.

Fashion Zone

The fashion zone was, well, fashionable. This is where you can find the Beckhams (David & Victoria), Anna Wintour, and the Kattan sisters, among others.

Cara Delevingne and Kylie Jenner at Madame Tussauds Dubai

The Jenner sisters had glam setups; Kylie's theme was large jewelry, while Kendall had a corner closet with cute outfits. The Blue fur coat I wore below was from the wardrobe.

In the middle, you can find a small ramp where you can strut your outfit or take photos on the backdrop. There are bags and accessories available to use as props.

Film Zone

In the Film zone is where they display iconic characters in movies, like Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) from the Hunger Games series, Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) from the Mission Impossible series, and legendary actor/martial artist Jackie Chan from dozens of action movies.

They also have Spiderman, World of Warcraft’s Sir Anduin Lothar, and Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) from The Fast and The Furious series.

If you want a director or producer moment, there’s a corner where you can take photos with a production chair and a clapperboard.

Local Stars

Before you get to the Bollywood section, you will pass through a hall of local stars where you can catch the following: radio show host and musician Kris Fade, Emirati comedian Bin Baz (the one with the Instagram frame), Emirati singer Balqees Ahmed Fahti, Egyptian producer Hassan El Shafei, and Egyptian actor Ahmed Fahmi (the one with an interview chair you can sit on, so it looks like he is interviewing you).

Bollywood Zone

The Bollywood zone was the most colorful and lively. We did not know the personalities here, but we took our time checking them out because they all had creative backdrops. So colorful. I guess that's a Bollywood thing.

Also, they had a beautiful entrance covered with flowers; this leads to a dance floor where you can take a video of yourself dancing. All you have to do is follow the steps on the screen.

Present in the interactive Sport zone are the following superstars: Argentine footballer Lionel Messi, Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, “The Notorious” Conor McGregor of Dublin, British racer Lewis Hamilton, and legendary boxer Muhammad Ali.

Other stars you can find here include Moldovan-Emirati judoka Sergiu Toma, weightlifter Amna Al Haddad, Arabian soccer player Yasser Al-Qahtani, and cricket players Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.

Music Party

The last stop is the Music Party, where you can chill with local and international music icons. They have Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, Pharrell Williams, Mohammed Assaf, and Maya Diab.

Some Trivia About Madame Tussauds

 • The spelling used to be Madame Tussaud's, but they have removed the apostrophe, so now it's Madame Tussauds.

 • Marie’s first creation was a wax figure of the French philosopher Voltaire.

 • She inherited the wax exhibition of her mentor, Philippe Curtius.

How long does it take to finish going around Madame Tussauds?

Each section offers a different experience, and you might want to stay longer in one of them. I'd say it takes one to two hours to explore the whole museum (based on our experience going there during non-peak hours).

Others | Tips

 • There is a water dispenser right outside the mall. I suggest bringing a tumbler (you can fill it up whenever, and it's good to stay hydrated);

 • Food and drinks are not allowed inside;

 • Take as many photos at the selfie kiosks because you can download them later on for free, they are good to have as souvenirs.

So, is it worth visiting Madame Tussauds Museum in Dubai? I'd say yes. That would be all for today. For more Dubai blog posts, see the Food & Travel section of the blog.

<![CDATA[Unveiling the Rich History of Philippine Rum]]>https://www.andltorre.com/single-post/unveiling-the-history-of-philippine-rum-from-sugarcane-fields-to-global-recognition-philippine-rum655626f35ecef4ce151c2166Sun, 19 Nov 2023 09:45:02 GMTSponsored - Submitted The Philippines has a long and fascinating history when it comes to rum production. From the origins of sugarcane cultivation to its global recognition, Philippine rum has a story that deserves to be told.

From Sugarcane Fields to Global Recognition

Let's take a journey through time and explore the rich history of Philippine rum, from the sugarcane fields to its place on the world stage.

Rum cocktail | Photo by Johann Trasch

How did Sugarcane Cultivation Start in the Philippines?

Spanish Introduction

The cultivation of sugarcane in the Philippines began with the arrival of Spanish colonizers in the 16th century. The Spanish introduced sugarcane to the archipelago as part of their efforts to establish agricultural industries in their colonies. Sugarcane was a highly valuable crop due to its versatility in producing sugar, molasses, and, ultimately, rum.

Sugarcane's Rise as a Cash Crop

The fertile soil and tropical climate of the Philippines were ideal for sugarcane cultivation, and it quickly became a significant cash crop for the Spanish colony. Large sugarcane plantations, known as "haciendas", were established across the islands, particularly in regions with suitable growing conditions.

Labor Systems and Sugarcane Cultivation

As sugarcane production expanded, so did the demand for labor. Spanish colonizers relied heavily on forced labor systems, including encomiendas and later, the repartimiento system, to meet the growing need for sugarcane cultivation. Indigenous Filipinos and, later, enslaved Africans were subjected to harsh labor conditions on these sugarcane plantations.

The Birth of Filipino Rum

The combination of abundant sugarcane fields and the Spanish introduction of distillation techniques laid the groundwork for the development of Filipino rum. Sugarcane juice was fermented and then distilled to create a spirit that would become an integral part of Filipino culture and heritage.

The Art of Rum-Making

Rum production became a cherished family tradition, with generations passing down secret recipes and techniques. The process involved sugarcane harvesting, juice extraction, fermentation into a molasses-like substance, and distillation to create the final spirit. Maturation in large vats or barrels allowed the rum to develop rich flavors and a smooth texture over time.

Philippine rum pays homage to its heritage while embracing innovation. Distilleries throughout the country maintain traditional methods while also experimenting with new flavors and techniques. Today, you can explore this rich history and enjoy a wide variety of exquisite Filipino rums by visiting thirst.com, where you can conveniently buy rum online in the Philippines and savor the legacy of this remarkable spirit.

Whether enjoyed neat or mixed into cocktails, Philippine rum remains a cherished symbol of the nation's rich history and vibrant culture, savored during celebrations, shared with friends, or enjoyed in moments of quiet reflection.

How Did Rum Production in the Philippines Evolve?

The evolution of Philippine rum production has been marked by modernization and the incorporation of global influences. Distillation processes became more refined, resulting in smoother and more consistent spirits. Techniques such as column distillation and aging in oak barrels added depth and complexity to the flavors.

The impact of globalization on rum production cannot be understated. With the rise of international trade, Filipino rum began to expand its reach beyond the local market. Distilleries embraced new technologies and marketing strategies to cater to a global audience, ultimately gaining recognition worldwide.

Philippine Rum on the World Stage

Today, Philippine rum stands proudly among the world's finest spirits. Its exceptional quality and distinct flavors have garnered international awards and recognition. Filipino rum distilleries have proven their dedication to producing top-notch products that can compete with the best in the world.

Philippine Rum Brands | Don Papa Masskara, Zabana 8 Dark Rum, Luisita Oro, and Very Old Captain

With its growing popularity, the future of Philippine rum in the global market looks promising. The rich history and dedication to craft give Filipino rum a unique selling point that sets it apart from other spirits. As more consumers discover the flavors and stories behind Philippine rum, its global recognition will only continue to rise.

Philippine rum has been making waves in international competitions and gaining recognition from renowned industry experts. With its exceptional quality, it has won numerous awards, solidifying its position as a top contender in the global rum scene. The flavors and craftsmanship are appreciated and celebrated by rum enthusiasts around the world.

Cheers to a good life!

Conclusion

The journey of Philippine rum from the sugarcane fields to global recognition is a testament to the rich history and dedication of Filipino artisans. The evolution of sugarcane cultivation, the birth of rum as a symbol in Philippine society, and the advancements in production techniques have all contributed to the success of Philippine rum worldwide. With its exceptional quality and unique flavors, Philippine rum continues to shine on the world stage and shows no signs of slowing down. So, the next time you sip on a glass of Philippine rum, remember the centuries of history and craftsmanship that went into creating that exceptional spirit.

The Burj Khalifa in Dubai, UAE

There is no doubt that the Burj Khalifa is stunning. It is one of Dubai's remarkable structures that attract many visitors for its towering height and splendor.

Andrey Khrobostov Burj Khalifa tower from afar

It may be known for its extravagance, but the skyscraper is, more importantly, an architecture and engineering feat. The amount of effort and collaboration that went into building the dream is astounding if you think about it.

Another thing that makes it appealing is the idea it symbolizes- the possibility of reaching lofty aspirations.

Today, I’m taking you to the observatory inside Burj Khalifa- not inside the hotel, but on the viewing decks.

"At the Top" Burj Khalifa tickets

Address: 1 Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Blvd - Downtown Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Where to Get Tickets for "At the Top" | Baggage Counter

You can purchase tickets from Cobone, Headout, or Klook (see link below).

If you happen to be in Dubai Mall and want to book the experience, no problem. They accept walk-ins. It’s better to get your tickets online, though.

There’s a baggage counter where you can leave your shopping bags.

How to Get There

Just go to Dubai Mall to get to Burj Khalifa. The entrance to the ticketing station is on the lower ground floor. The landmark is the souvenir store near the pharmacy and the restroom (Al Jaber Gallery).

“At the Top” The Experience

Getting in was easy because we booked online (the passes were on our phone, and the tickets were ready to claim). However, the line heading to the elevator ride was long. There were many touring groups that day, and we had to be patient.

Once we reached Level 124, we immediately rushed to the only spot left. It was hazy when we arrived at the deck, so we walked around first before taking photos and going to the next floor.

Level 125 is where you can find the souvenir shop, The Cafe, the photo station, the simulated walkway, and the tower viewers.

You can stay there for as long as you like.

After the elevator ride and as you exit, you will see small seating areas with screens on the side (not in photos). It's where you can sit and watch short interviews of those who partook in Burj Khalifa's planning, development, and construction.

There is also a section where you can stop by and learn how the tower is maintained (light, ventilation, waste management processes, and more).

Is it worth the hype?

I would say yes (because it's still, after all, the tallest in the world), but it's something I would have been okay to miss. I am impressed with the superstructure, but as for the experience, I had more fun at Sky Views Observatory.

Others

 • Fast track passes are available for those who want to skip the lines;

 • There are other options aside from the "At the Top" observatory. Burj Khalifa also offers guests the experience to enjoy the highest lounge in the world (Levels 152, 153, and 154). Of course, this is way more expensive- ideal for those who have the money to spend and like VIP services;

 • While you’re there, you can watch the lights and sound fountain show for free (Dubai Mall).

<![CDATA[5 Easy Ways to Practice Self-Care Today]]>https://www.andltorre.com/single-post/5-easy-ways-to-practice-self-care-today6547b0844247b5d51645ae8fWed, 08 Nov 2023 09:50:01 GMTAndi Dela Torre GriffithsAre you experiencing burnout? Couldn’t function as efficiently as you normally would? You might need some me-time to rest and recharge.

What is Self-Care? And Why is it Important?

Self-care refers to (deliberately) engaging in activities that help with one's physical and mental health or protect one's well-being.

As adults, we have different responsibilities at work and home. These are inevitable and are a part of life. But sometimes, whether out of decision or obligation, we take more than we can handle- then crash. Have you ever reached that point? If yes, it’s a sign to show yourself some extra TLC.

Self care is the new health care | Easy ways to practice self-care

In a previous blog post, I mentioned "eustress", the positive stress that motivates and gives you a sense of fulfillment. If this is what you are experiencing, that is good to know (but still, it is best to look after your mental health and engage in self-care activities). On the other hand, if you are experiencing a draining kind of stress. It’s time to take action.

Stress is not something to underestimate; when intense and prolonged, it can affect your daily life. With this, I’d like to share a few researched-backed and easy ways to practice self-care today. I have done all these (and continue to do so whenever possible).

5 Easy Ways to Practice Self-Care Today

1.) Get Enough Rest

Sleep is crucial for good overall health. It is a time when biological processes (like cell repair and energy restoration) take place in our bodies for them to recover and prepare for the next day. Without enough sleep, we won't be able to perform our tasks properly, as it is also responsible for aiding brain functions like mood and memory. Are you getting quality sleep?

When I was having a challenging time and couldn't sleep well, I purchased a mattress topper, which was a wise decision because it was so comfortable. The one I got was from Uratex.

Here's one of their best-selling toppers that you can try:

Uratex Senso Memory Foam Topper

Get it on Shopee

Get it on Lazada

2.) Tweak your Diet

It is a known fact that food affects your mood. With this, it would be a major self-care move to make an effort to tweak your diet. You can eat more veggies, squeeze in some fruit on the side, or change your cooking methods (try grilling or boiling instead of frying).

Healthy fruits and vegetables for a healthy mind, body, and soul

Another way you can do this is through evaluating your current diet and seeing if there is something you can improve (most likely, there is). It’s easy to resort to unhealthy and sugary foods under pressure and stress. It does help, after all. But too much of anything is not good. Sugar is a yummy mood booster but can create health problems if consumed in large amounts. It can give you cavities, damage your skin, and increase your risk for diabetes. The same goes for oily foods, which create high cholesterol levels that can lead to heart disease.

3.) Pamper Yourself

There are many options when it comes to pampering yourself. You can book a staycation, go shopping, or visit the spa for a massage. Pampering helps promote better sleep and gives you time to reflect. Do something that can put you in a relaxed state.

Easy ways to practice self-care today | Pamper yourself

If you prefer to stay home, you can do your mani/pedi, make all-natural face masks, or enjoy your beverage of choice while enjoying a movie.

4.) Listen to Feel-Good Songs

This one’s my favorite. Listening to music is one of the best and fastest ways to give you a boost. You can listen to your go-to songs while doing another self-care activity (like waiting for your face mask to dry or treating yourself to a foot massage). You can also create a playlist.

Easy ways to practice self-care today | listen to a feel-good song

When picking hits for your playlist, don’t just listen to the tune; check the lyrics too (your subconscious mind will pick it up). As much as possible, pick the ones with uplifting messages, not the ones with hateful, sad lyrics. Of course, a good pair of headphones would make your listening experience better.

5.) Count your Blessings

Practicing gratitude will put you in a different state of mind. Sure, it’s good to hit the gym, go shopping, or get a facial, but the satisfaction you get from these can be fleeting. To keep the good vibes flowing, write down a list of things, people, and opportunities you are thankful for. While you can do this on your phone, I highly suggest using your journal and a pen because it creates a different experience. Plus, you can be more creative that way.

Self-care package | Think happy thoughts

See What Works for You

Self-care can look different for everyone. To some, it could be as simple as not doing anything for an hour or two. To others, self-care can look like finishing a good book, cleaning the house, going to the gym, or decluttering on social media.

Like whales, they have better memory, recognition, adaptability, and problem-solving skills (they have spindle neurons, which are specialized brain cells).

Not only that...they have two stomachs- one for food storage and one for digestion (interesting!). Also known as the friendly ones, it's not surprising many are amused with these beautiful mammals.

Photo of two dolphins at the Dubai Dolphinarium

Today, I’ll share how our trip to the Dubai Dolphinarium went. If you’re still working on your Dubai itinerary, here’s another destination to consider. It is the first air-conditioned indoor dolphinarium in the Middle East. Keep reading to learn more about our experience.

Location and Tickets

The dolphinarium is inside Creek Park in Gate 1. With this, expect an entrance fee of 5 AED (per person). If you arrive early or have extra time after the show, I suggest going around to see what else is inside the park.

We didn't check out the whole area anymore because we had to leave early for another activity in the afternoon.

For the tickets, you can book them online through their official website, or use coupon sites such as Headout or Cobone. Walk-ins are welcome.

The Performers and The Show

It’s worth mentioning that the host and staff members did a great job setting the mood. They were cheerful and hyped us up for a few minutes before the show started. They also danced to the music and interacted with the kids before giving the house rules.

Dubai Dolphinarum Experience

The stars of the show were the family of dolphins, but they also had a talented seal who made a lot of us in the audience laugh.

Dubai Dolphinarium | The Experience

We booked an early show, and there were not a lot of people when we went, but the energy was great, and all the kids were so excited. I like how ready they were to see the dolphins take the stage.

Dolphin warming up before the show | Creek Park, Dubai

My favorite parts were when one of the dolphins transported its trainer from one side of the stage to the other and the part where the dolphin jumped to kick the ball attached to the ceiling.

I also loved the portion where the seal showed us tricks and sang for us. We had a great time. I enjoyed seeing the animals.

Seal and dolphin show at Dubai Dolphinarium

There is a VIP section at the bottom if you want to be close to the action. The main perks of being in that area include getting a chance to throw the large ball during the interactive part of the show, a chance to be serenaded by the seal (then receive a rose), and, of course, seeing the dolphins closer. But you can still enjoy a great view even when you book regular tickets and sit in the general seating area (where we were).

Dubai Dolphinarium general seating area

I would highly recommend this activity to couples, groups of friends, and families on vacation in Dubai. It’s a light activity that people of all ages can enjoy.

Games

During the show, there will be games that your kids can join (while adults can join the social media post contest below). They can participate to win special prizes like tickets to the Mirror Maze, a photo opportunity with the animals up close, or passes for the dolphin interactions.

Food and Drinks | Others

If you get hungry, there's a cafeteria inside the venue where you can grab a few drinks and snacks.

There is another attraction nearby called Mirror Maze, an Instagrammable labyrinth that is also inside the dolphinarium (right in front of the cafeteria).

I guess that's it for today. Just make sure to wear something comfortable, especially if you plan to go around the park.

It is known for its sandstone buildings, creek views, and beautiful architecture reminiscent of the fictional Agrabah.

Souq (also the same as souk) is a term used to describe places where people buy or sell goods in Arab cities, like bazaars and street markets.

What is there to see?

Before we get to that, it’s worth mentioning that in this promenade, old meets new. It has a modern area with hotels and restaurants you would find in any other city, and a heritage area where the charming old-world buildings are. It is the heritage part you should check out.

For starters, you can do a walking tour. Soak in the vibe and see what the outdoor stalls offer, like the ones below.

You can also treat yourself to fragrant Arab oil perfumes or tea leaves. We visited a perfume store that sells various fragrances, and they all smelled great. They had an assortment of bottles you could choose from as well.

Grab a Drink

Their version of Starbucks matches the whole theme of the district. It’s a small branch where many tourists grab coffee or iced tea to have something to drink while walking around. There are also a few seats if you want to chill. It gets packed in the afternoon, though, especially during the weekend.

Check out the Other Stores

There are dozens of boutiques you can enter. Take your pick from various stores that sell all sorts of things: dresses, accessories, carpets, unique home decor, shawls, and more.

There's a lot of unique stuff inside the shops in the complex, most of which are Middle Eastern home decor like pillows, lights, cushions, and table fabrics. They have nice fashion accessories too.

Below are more souvenirs, antique goods, hats, and bags. We got to try these outfits to see how they would look on us. One of the sellers was kind enough to let us put them on.

Stunning Arabic Architecture at Al Seef District

Going to Al Seef is a must if you are traveling to Dubai; it is one of the best ways to have a cultural experience through the Arabian souks, the music, and the stunning architecture.

It still looks beautiful in the evening (we went here during nighttime last year). But for me, it's best to come in the early afternoon with the sun out. You can appreciate the old-world structures better in broad daylight.

Outfit & Look of the Day

In most places like the mall or other tourist areas, you can wear almost whatever you want, as long as it doesn’t look tasteless.

For our visit, I wore a long sleeveless dress to match the rattan earrings I got on Shopee. Then, I paired it with my comfy flats.

The scarf was from one of the shops that we visited. It’s a light Brown shawl with little studs in it. There’s a lot of walking to be done here, so wear comfortable clothes and footwear.

<![CDATA[Tried Indoor Putting for the First Time | Pat's Putts]]>https://www.andltorre.com/single-post/pat-s-putts-indoor-putting-tiendesitas651e8fd8eb137ba2ffacb0e4Wed, 11 Oct 2023 11:54:21 GMTAndi Dela Torre GriffithsLast week, we met with my cousin Bodic and his girlfriend Chie for dinner. We had kebabs with rice at Habib, then had drinks to go with it while exchanging stories. Good fun. We finished eating early but didn't want to go home yet.

My sister suggested we check out a nearby mini indoor golf course, which we were fine with, so off we went. The place is called Pat's Putts.

Pat's Putts

Pat's Putts is a hangout spot where you can putt in a 27-hole indoor (and glow-in-the-dark) golf course.

Location | Operation Hours

You can find Pat’s Putts on the second level of Tiendesitas, near the drinking area and the live stage. It’s the one with the tinted glass doors. They are open from 10 AM to 10 PM on Sundays to Thursdays, then 10 AM to 12 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.

The bracelet passes are available at the reception area. They will hand it to you after you pay.

Rates for the Indoor Golf Course & the Game Room

The regular rate is ₱599.00. For children under 4 feet, it’s ₱399.

If you don’t want to putt, you can avail of the Game Room pass, which gives you all access to their gaming area. You can play cornhole, subsoccer, beer pong, Jenga, Connect 4, and more. The rate for this is ₱100.00.

The Course

There are 27 holes in the Black-lit room. All were exciting to play. But my favorite would probably be the windmill (not in photos) and the one with the loop. Everything inside is glow-in-the-dark, except the gaming section and the diner.

The Experience

We all had a great time, and the experience felt like a workout. At first, we thought it was going to be a chill activity, but we were all sweaty halfway through the course. It does get tiring after a while, especially once you get to the harder ones in the middle.

If you want to improve your focus and motor skills, Pat's Putts is the place to be. It’s also perfect for first dates or family nights. It’s something different from the usual.

Food and Drinks

They have an in-house diner where you can order fried snacks, coffee, and cocktails. Bottled water is also available.

Outside food and drinks are not allowed. When my sister called to ask for the corkage fee, the attendant said 1,000.00. That’s more than how much the experience costs.

Others

 • There are no restrooms inside the establishment. You have to go out and use the one near Decathlon;

 • Only players (or those booking Game Room passes) are allowed inside.
