Wearing Prescription Glasses for the First Time | Owndays Philippines

Hey everyone, today I’m going to share my experience getting prescription glasses for the first time. I thought it might be helpful to those who are curious, so here we are.

I’ve heard so many good things about optical shops in Quiapo that offer quality eyewear at lower prices. But since it’s far from where I live, I decided to look somewhere close (to save time and money). I had a few options: Sarabia, Vision Express, OWNDAYS, and Executive Optical (EO).

Vision Express and OWNDAYS were my final two (taray final two hahaha), but I ended up going to OWNDAYS, which I do not regret. I plan to get graded lenses from Vision Express, though, hehe.

My Experience at OWNDAYS as a First-Time Wearer of Prescription Glasses

The cute purple specs I found online weren't available in-store, so I had to pick another design. I went for the Wellington-style pair in Dark Gray- from the Essential collection. It's not exactly my style, but at least it is easy to pair with any outfit (the one in the middle).

After picking my frame, I did an eye scan with Doc Ting (not sure if this is the right term; please correct me if I'm wrong) and was asked to go inside the refraction room. She was very nice, by the way. I had so many questions, and she was happy to explain. I felt comfortable the whole time.

Before we wrapped it up, she showed me the different lenses they offer (in case I wanted an upgrade). So, they have specialized lenses for those who are always on their phones or computers, individuals over 40, those who always do outdoor activities, etc. Feel free to ask if you want to know what suits you best.

I said I still want to go for the standard lenses, and I appreciate how she did not try to force me to upgrade. I might do it next year when I come back to visit.

As per the site, "All OWNDAYS spectacles and sunglasses come with Ultra Thin Multi-Coated lenses that have dust-repellent coating and offer UV protection".

After the eye check-up and exam, I paid at the counter and waited 20 minutes to get my first pair of prescription glasses. That's it!

Total Price

Since I didn’t make any upgrades, the total price was the price indicated in the frame I chose- ₱2,990.00

First Week

Honestly, it felt a bit weird wearing it in the first week. Doc Ting said it takes about 3 days to a week for my eyes to adjust, and that I have to wear it as often as I can to train my brain.
